Contact lenses are medical devices used to correct vision problems.
There are many different brands, optics, replacement schedules, materials, diameters, and base curves.
Spherical contact lenses correct simple myopia and simple hyperopia.
Astigmatism/toric contact lenses correct myopia or hyperopia AND corneal astigmatism.
Single vision contact lenses correct distance vision.
Multifocal contact lenses correct both distance and near vision.
Monovision is when single vision contact lenses are utilized and one eye is corrected for distance and the other is corrected for near.
Colored contact lenses can enhance or change your eye color. They are available with or without prescription.
Contact lenses can be replaced daily, every two weeks, every month, quarterly, or yearly. This depends on the brand, strength, and frequency of use.
Rigid Gas Permeable lenses are a hard lens. While less common, we can renew prescriptions for this type of lens at our office.
Contact lenses are regulated by the FDA and by law the prescription expires after 1 year.
